CRAFT FAIR HELD AT WIXON SCHOOL

Because of the success of the Dennis Summerfest Craft Fair at the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School, 901 Route 134, South Dennis, it will be held there again in 2015.

The Root Beer Races will be held at Wixon at 1PM, and will be open for the children.

The Antique Cars will be displayed at Wixon from Approx. 1-3 PM.

Bring your cameras because we plan on having “Stand-ins” for everyone to enjoy.

Refreshments available. Krista K’s Ice Cream will be there again this year.

Fireworks & Antique Car Motorcade

There will be fireworks in Dennis during the Dennis Summerfest, August 15, 2015. (The rain date will be August 16th.) From West Dennis Beach.

Also, the proud owners of pre-1976 vehicles, will be parading the streets of Dennis on August 16, 2015 for the 56th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE. Yes, the Dennis Small Business Association is now hosting the longest running, antique car parade in Dennis. Ending at Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School, Rte 134, South Dennis.

FAMILY NIGHT OUT with FIREWORKS

SATURDAY AUG. 15TH – FAMILY NIGHT OUT – FIREWORKS. This event takes place on West Dennis Beach. There will be a bonfire (ceremonial burn), marshmallow toasting.

We will have a short ceremony to honor our men and women in the armed forces, serving overseas as well as in the states, sponsored by the Cape Cod Amvets. 6:30-6:45

At dusk, a spectacular FIREWORKS display will take place, put on by ATLAS PyroVisions Productions of NH.

A shuttle bus will be available at the West Dennis Graded Schoolhouse on School Street and will be taking people to and from the Fireworks from 4:30 on. Provided by First Student Inc.

Sat., 8/15—Colonial Open House @ the Josiah Dennis Manse, 10 AM-4 PM, 77 Nobscussett Rd., Dennis. Thomas Kelleher, blacksmith from Sturbridge Village will demonstrate his skills in creating iron work. Open hearth cooking, pie-making & spinning. Children’s games and more. Walk through gardens. Refreshments will be served.

Sun., 8/16 6:30-10 AM. The Sand Sculpture Contest has become a tradition in Dennis during the summer festivities. The Recreation/Beach Dept. have been organizing this event for many years. Our group has participated in getting prizes and acting as judges for the different age categories of artists. The event is held at the Mayflower Beach in Dennis. Registration is at 6:30AM. Yes, that’s AM. The artists have to check in, receive their stake with their name, category, etc. and find a spot to create their masterpiece. Everything has to be completed by the time the tide rolls in. Prizes will be given for each category.

Sun., 8/16—ARTS, CRAFTS & LOCAL VENDORS, 10 AM-4 PM, LOCATION: at Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School, Route 134, in South Dennis. Artists, Crafters, Local Vendors, and Food Vendors (Hot Dogs; hamburgers; Ice Cream; Drinks, and more), Children’s Root Beer Races, Pickle Ball demonstrations, and other activities. Entertainment: Joes Band featuring Izzy Marino from 1-3PM. Park in lower lot.

Also at the Fair: CAPE COD SALTIES – Learn to Fish Day, 10:00am – 3pm at Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis. Get in on the fun of Fishing. Hands-on instruction and demonstrations covering all aspects of fishing will be going on throughout the day. Learn how to tie a new knot or find out where to catch the big one. Kids up to twelve can enter the casting contests. A morning contest will run from 11:00 am till Noon and an afternoon contest will run from 1:00 till 2:00. Prizes will be awarded for both contests.

Professional fly tyer Joe O’Clair will be available to tye a fly or bucktail that you design. Bob Davis will be showing his handmade lures and explaining lure making techniques. Lou MacKeil will be on hand to discuss his time tested techniques. Lou has instructed over 1,000 people through his “Take a Course, Catch a Fish” sessions given throughout the Cape.

Even if you are already an avid angler come out and learn about the Cape Cod Salties Sport Fishing Club from the Salties themselves. Salties are men and women from all over the Cape who enjoy fishing and the fellowship the organization provides. (Used fishing gear available for sale.)

Sun., 8/16—56th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE and DISPLAY, Starts at West Dennis Beach at 12 Noon, travels to Lower County Rd., to Old Wharf Rd, to Chase Ave., to Belmont, to Division, across Rte. 28, then travels on Upper County Rd., crossing Rte. 134, to Liberty Hall, then right on Old Main St. to Old Chatham Rd. to Route 134 and into the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis where cars will be on display (approx. 1-3PM). (Pre-register cars with Penny Bach, Motorcade Chairman, 508-760-4524, and receive a Beach Pass)

Sun., 8/16—White Elephant Sale 10 AM-12 Noon & Lawn Party, 12 Noon – 2 PM, Liberty Hall, S. Dennis.

Sun., 8/16 Herb Day at Jericho, 1PM, costumed guides will give herbal demonstrations. Treats. Tour Capt. Theophilus Baker’s Cape Cod House. See authentic tools of the time in the Barn at Jericho. Corner of 90 Old Main Street & Trotting Park Rd.

Sand Sculpture Contest

Sunday, August 16th. The Sand Sculpture Contest has become a tradition in Dennis during the summer festivities. The Recreation/Beach Dept. have been organizing this event for many years. ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE

The 57th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE will start at the West Dennis Beach at 12:00 Noon. It will travel out of the beach and onto Lower County Road, turns onto Old Wharf Road, to Chase Avenue, to Belmont, to Division, to Rt. 28, to Telegraph Rd., to Upper County Rd., across Rt. 134, past Liberty Hall, right onto Main St., bear left onto Old Bass River Rd., turn right onto Old Chatham Road, turn left onto Route 134, enter into the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School.

The cars should arrive at the school approx. 1:00 PM and will be on display until 3:00 PM.
